Bournemouth Excludes Defender Jimenez Over Social Media Posts
AFC Bournemouth has announced the exclusion of its Spanish defender, Alex Jimenez, from the squad preparing to face Fulham in the Premier League. This decision comes amidst internal investigations by the club regarding social media posts circulating online, which concern the 21-year-old player.
In an official statement, the English club clarified that it fully understands the seriousness and scope of the matter, and has decided to sideline the right-back from match participation pending the completion of the investigation into the published content.
Bournemouth stated: "The club is aware of social media posts circulating concerning Alex Jimenez. We understand the seriousness of this matter, which is currently under investigation. As a result, the player will not be included in tomorrow's matchday squad against Fulham."
Looking at the player's statistics for the current season, Jimenez has featured in 32 matches for the team, scoring one goal.
The Spanish defender had made a permanent move to the club last February, signing a long-term contract extending until 2031, following an initial loan spell that began last summer from Italian club AC Milan.
The club concluded its statement by emphasizing that it would not make any further comments on the issue at this time, preferring to focus on the ongoing investigations. For his part, the player has not issued any official statement regarding the nature of the posts that led to his sudden exclusion from the coaching staff's plans ahead of the upcoming domestic league fixture.
