Manchester City Prepares Huge Bid for Antoine Semenyo in Winter Transfer Window
Manchester City is reportedly preparing to make one of the most significant signings of the upcoming winter transfer window, as the official market opens tomorrow, Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Reports published by "Sky Sports" indicate that 25-year-old Antoine Semenyo is close to joining Manchester City. The club intends to activate the release clause in his contract with Bournemouth, which stands at £65 million, equivalent to approximately €75 million.
The Ghanaian winger moved to Bournemouth from Bristol in January 2023 for €10 million. This potential transfer would make him one of the most expensive players in Manchester City's history.
This fee would place Semenyo among City's major signings, alongside players like Omar Marmoush and Kevin De Bruyne. Only Joško Gvardiol, who cost €90 million, and Jack Grealish, whose transfer was €117 million, would surpass him in value.
The forward is currently showcasing excellent form, having scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists in the 2024-2025 Premier League season. He also registered 9 goals and 3 assists in the first half of the current season alone.
Beyond statistics, Semenyo appears to possess the ideal characteristics to adapt to manager Pep Guardiola's playing style. He is adept with both feet and can operate on both the right and left wings, making him an ideal alternative to players like Phil Foden, Jérémy Doku, Savinho, or Rayan Cherki.
This deal would provide City with an additional attacking option and reduce their reliance on Erling Haaland's goals.
