Amine Adli Delivers Late 'Knockout Blow' to Liverpool
Liverpool suffered a painful 3-2 defeat against hosts Bournemouth in a dramatic scenario during matchday 23 of the English Premier League on Saturday.
Bournemouth took a two-goal lead through Evanilson and Alex Jimenez in the 26th and 33rd minutes. Liverpool responded with goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai in the 45+1st and 80th minutes respectively.
However, the home side snatched all three points with a decisive late goal scored by Moroccan Amine Adli in the final minute of injury time (90+5').
This defeat compounded Liverpool's struggles, as they had drawn four consecutive matches and now lost their fifth, leaving them stuck on 36 points in fourth place.
The loss also intensified pressure on Liverpool manager Arne Slot ahead of two consecutive home matches: first against Qarabag in the Champions League, followed by Newcastle United in the next league round.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth secured their seventh league victory of the season, moving up to 30 points and into thirteenth position.
