Azam Coach Ibenge: "We Need Points and Will Fight for Them Starting Tomorrow Against Wydad"
Florent Ibenge, coach of Tanzania's Azam FC, emphasized the importance of his team's upcoming match against Wydad AC in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. He asserted that such fixtures give meaning to football on the continent and provide players with an opportunity to develop and showcase their abilities.
During the pre-match press conference, Ibenge stated, "We are in the world of football for such confrontations, and we must enjoy every opportunity that these competitions offer to players and to African football."
Ibenge added that the technical staff had analyzed the team's first match, which they lost. He highlighted that Azam is well aware of the reasons behind that defeat, affirming, "We identified the reason for our loss in the first match, so expect a significant improvement in the team's performance tomorrow."
The Congolese coach acknowledged the difficulty of dealing with matches where the team concedes goals, considering that it makes the task harder for the players. He remarked, "When you concede goals, the task becomes complicated, and we do not want to regret repeating the same mistakes."
Azam's coach urged his players to focus and correct their errors, emphasizing the necessity of winning if the team wants to write its own history in the competition. He said, "We want to write our history, but this requires winning matches."
Ibenge concluded his statements by asserting that Azam will approach the Wydad match with a strong desire to secure their first points in the group. He stated, "We need points, and we will fight for them starting tomorrow."
