Aguerd Decides on Surgery for 'Sports Hernia'
Moroccan international player Nayef Aguerd has decided to undergo surgery months before the start of the 2026 World Cup to recover from a muscle injury in his lower abdomen.
Foot Mercato confirmed that Aguerd opted for surgery to alleviate the pain of a "sports hernia," an injury common among athletes resulting from intense movements that lead to tears in the lower abdominal muscles.
Aguerd has been suffering from various injuries since the start of the season, including groin pain, which is similar to the "sports hernia" that will now require him to undergo surgery three months before the World Cup.
Reports indicate that the 29-year-old will be sidelined for a period ranging from four to six weeks.
