Hervé Renard, coach of the Saudi national team, revealed why he declined to lead the Senegalese national team, stating that he will return to Africa one day because he feels comfortable there.

In an interview with Jeune Afrique magazine, Renard said: "Not all the conditions were met in Senegal, but I had a desire to take on this challenge."

He added: "If a well-organized federation presents a strong sporting project, it could pique my interest. The financial aspect is not the primary criterion for me, and it never has been. I feel comfortable in Africa, and I will return to it one day."

Renard was among the top candidates to take charge of the Senegal national team following Aliou Cissé's departure after the team's exit from the round of 16 in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Despite being unattached at the time, the French coach decided not to accept the role.
