Senegalese Federation Celebrates Coach Thiaw's Birthday
The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) today celebrated the 45th birthday of its national coach, Pape Boubacar Thiaw. Thiaw recently led the national team to the Africa Cup of Nations title, and the celebration comes despite a recent sanction imposed on him by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The FSF's official social media account posted a message stating: "Happy birthday to national coach Pape Boubacar Thiaw, who turns 45 today."
CAF had previously decided to suspend Thiaw for five official matches and fine him $100,000. This disciplinary action was taken following incidents that occurred during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, which pitted Morocco against Senegal. The sanction was imposed due to unsporting behavior and a violation of fair play principles, which CAF stated negatively impacted the image of African football.
