CAF Executive Committee to Meet Friday to Review Regulations and Key Issues Before AFCON 2027
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that its Executive Committee will convene on Friday, February 13, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The meeting will be attended by Executive Committee members and chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe. Following the meeting, President Motsepe will hold a press conference in Dar es Salaam at 11:00 GMT+1, which will be broadcast live on CAF's official channel.
During the meeting, several important issues will be discussed, particularly in the context of preparations for East Africa's hosting of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. The competition, organized by TotalEnergies, will be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Motsepe had previously stated that the meeting aims to make urgent decisions outside of the ordinary General Assembly and to review CAF's regulations, including the disciplinary code. This review comes in light of events witnessed during the Africa Cup of Nations finals, "Morocco 2025".
Motsepe had previously clarified that the meeting aims to review regulations to enable CAF's judicial bodies to impose deterrent penalties for any violations of the statutes or regulations. This is to ensure the preservation of respect and integrity in African football and its competitions globally.
The CAF President affirmed that these measures reflect the Confederation's commitment to strengthening oversight of compliance with laws, ensuring that African football and CAF competitions continue to be held in high international regard and admiration.
