Manchester City Struggles: Guardiola Defends Rodri
Manchester City is currently enduring a difficult period, having recently suffered two defeats. The first was a 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the derby, followed by a 3-1 defeat against Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League.
Midfielder Rodri, winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or and Euro 2024's best player, has been struggling with his form and fitness. He sustained an ACL injury in September 2024, followed by a hamstring issue from November to December. He was also sent off in the Bodø/Glimt match after receiving two yellow cards in two minutes.
Manager Pep Guardiola defended his player, Rodri, stating: "Eleven months! Eleven months of injury! Give him time. He is still the best."
Guardiola also commented on the team's overall struggles, remarking: "I know why we are facing difficulties right now. I know, 100%, what happened to the team. I know it. (...) When the team doesn't win, it's not one player's fault. It's everyone's responsibility."
Manchester City has not secured a single Premier League victory since Rodri's return, recording three draws and one defeat.
