Guardiola Addresses Manchester City's Dip in Form, Praises Arsenal
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola held a press conference on Friday, addressing the team's recent performance ahead of their Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. City currently sit second in the league, seven points behind leaders Arsenal, following a run of four games without a win. The team also recently suffered a 3-1 defeat to Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League.
Commenting on the current situation, Guardiola stated, "I know why we are going through difficult times. I know 100% what is happening to the team." He added, "We cannot lose games, right? We cannot, right? Manchester City is so perfect that we cannot lose games, I know that." Guardiola also highlighted the high expectations, remarking, "I know it's a disaster to get 13 points in the Champions League, I know that. But there are eight teams with 13 points, and one of them is one of the best teams in the world. But for them, it's good, and for us, it's a disaster. The standard is very high, guys..." He further noted that the team suffered from the absence of 11 players in the Bodø/Glimt match.
Guardiola defended striker Erling Haaland, declaring, "He doesn't have to apologize. He has to give his best, and he tries, and when the team doesn't win, it's not about one player." He also commented on Rodri's form, noting that the midfielder "was injured for 11 months and needs time to recover."
Concluding his remarks, Guardiola praised Arsenal, describing them as "the best team in the world right now. Look at the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the League Cup."
