Foden Available for Manchester City in Champions League Despite Injury
Manchester City has confirmed the availability of midfielder Phil Foden for their upcoming Champions League match against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, scheduled for Tuesday.
This announcement comes despite Foden sustaining a hand fracture. Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed on Monday in Bodo, Norway, stating: “He broke his bones, but he has protection and he is fine for tomorrow's game.”
Foden picked up the injury during City's 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday, where he was substituted at halftime. The upcoming match, set to take place north of the Arctic Circle, is crucial for Manchester City.
A victory in this game would significantly boost the 2023 champions' chances of finishing within the top eight in the Champions League group stage standings, ensuring direct qualification for the round of 16. City currently sits fourth in the 36-club tournament table.
