Hossam Hassan (Egypt Coach): "I Don't Care About Doubters, My Goal is to Make the Egyptian People Happy"
Hossam Hassan, head coach of the Egyptian national team, affirmed that he does not care about doubters and that his focus is on making the Egyptian fans happy. This statement came after Egypt's 0-0 draw with Angola in the third round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage, which officially secured their qualification for the Round of 16.
During the post-match press conference, Hossam Hassan stated: "I don't care about the doubters; there are some who are counted among the country's people but do not represent us. My goal is to make the Egyptian people happy. I am not satisfied with what we have achieved so far; the tournament is still in its early stages. Qualifying for the Round of 16 is an important step, but what comes next is more crucial."
He added: "I was keen to give an opportunity to some players and rest the core squad, because what matters in the tournament is performance and achieving victory. We promise the fans that what's coming will be better."
The Egyptian national team accumulated seven points after winning their first two group matches before drawing with Angola on Monday. This result secured their qualification for the Round of 16, alongside South Africa, who defeated Zimbabwe 3-2.
