Mali Coach Saintfiet: "I Didn't Understand Morocco's Substitutions, Which Gave Us Chances to Punish Them"

Mali coach Tom Saintfiet expressed his surprise at some of the tactical choices made by Morocco coach Walid Regragui during the second half.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Saintfiet said: "After the substitutions made by the Moroccan national team, their team became disorganized. The starting team played well, then three substitutions were made, then two substitutions; I didn't understand the idea behind these changes."

He added: "We had some opportunities to punish Morocco. I think we were very dangerous in stoppage time, and we had two or three chances. This shows the quality of my players, but it also comes down to Morocco's lack of organization after the substitutions, which was present before them."

It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team settled for a 1-1 draw against Mali in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
