Saiss Expresses Disappointment After Mali Draw, Hopes for Quick Return
Morocco national team captain Romain Saiss expressed his disappointment after the 1-1 draw against Mali in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage, and also spoke about his commitment to gradually returning to the pitch after his recovery period.
Saiss stated in remarks following the match: "I am following my recovery protocol, little by little I feel better, and I started returning to the pitch yesterday. So, God willing, I will return gradually, and I hope that will be as soon as possible."
"We are disappointed with the result because we are a competitive team, and we want to win every match. However, we faced a strong and very athletic Mali team that was also quick on counter-attacks and had many quality players. So, unfortunately, when the score was 1-0, we didn't seal the game," Saiss added.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team will face Zambia in the third round next Monday (20:00 GMT+1) at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
