Regragui: "We Deserved to Win Against Mali But Didn't Capitalize on Our Few Chances"

Walid Regragui, head coach of the Moroccan national team, expressed his frustration following the 1-1 draw against Mali, stating that the "Atlas Lions" deserved to win the match.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Regragui said, “We had many chances and scored the first goal, which was logical given our control of the game. We also had an opportunity to score a second goal, but a midfield error cost us a penalty.”

He continued, “We tried until the end, but the Mali national team also defended their chances with great pressure. Frankly, we deserved to win this match, and we should have capitalized on the few opportunities we had, which we failed to do.”

Regragui added, “We are improving our level little by little, and this match will help us develop. The most important thing for us is to win the next match and secure first place.”

Regragui concluded his remarks by saying, “Our performance is considered good, and I am happy with the players today; their character was present. The draw is frustrating for us, but it is positive for the Mali national team.”
