Mali Thwarts Morocco's Plans: Global Press Reacts to Atlas Lions' Draw
International media outlets have reacted to the Moroccan national team's 1-1 draw against Mali in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
Spanish newspaper Marca headlined its article: "Another goal from Brahim, and Mbappé in the stands... but Morocco cannot beat Mali." The Spanish publication affirmed that Brahim Díaz was the best player in the first half, showing great activity, but his team failed to create many chances, stressing the need for Morocco's performance to improve if they aspire to win the tournament.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo highlighted in its headline: "1-1: Morocco stumbles in Mbappé's presence," confirming that Brahim Díaz scored the opening goal from a penalty, but Mali managed to assert control over the match and secure an equalizer, also from a penalty kick.
For its part, French newspaper Le Figaro published an article titled: "Mali thwarts Morocco's plans," while Ouest-France headlined: "Morocco draws with Mali in a penalty kick story, and qualification will be postponed for the Atlas Lions."
French newspaper L'Équipe noted in its report that Morocco will have to wait to confirm its qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16, while BBC Arabic's headline read: "Morocco draws 1-1 with Mali, postponing qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations last sixteen."
