Nairobi Coach: "It's Too Early to Judge Our Group's Situation; We Lost to Wydad, But We Still Have 5 Matches to Play"
Salim Ali, coach of Kenya's Nairobi United, discussed the main reason behind his team's 3-0 defeat to Wydad AC in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ali stated: "I believe that after conceding the first goal from a high ball, we lost focus, and that affected our game plan because we had a very good strategy based on strong defense and relying on counter-attacks." He continued: "After conceding early, we were forced to open up our style of play, and of course, the other two goals were due to a lack of concentration. I believe the team executed its plan well, and I want to congratulate my players on their effort; this is football."
The Nairobi coach concluded by saying: "It is still too early to judge the group's situation; we have lost one match, and we still have five matches left to play."
