Benhachem: "Playing on the Width of the Pitch Allowed Boucheouari and Boucheta to Excel; We Managed Second Half Minutes to Avoid Fatigue"

Wydad AC secured a significant 3-0 victory over their Kenyan visitors, Nairobi United, on Sunday. The match, part of the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, saw the Red Castle dictate the pace from the opening minutes.

Amin Benhachem, Wydad's coach, expressed his satisfaction with his team's collective performance. He explained, “We knew we would face a team that would sit back, and that we would find spaces by playing on the width of the pitch. This allowed Boucheta and Boucheouari to excel because they applied what we had worked on throughout the week.”

He added, “Controlling the width of the pitch helps you create channels for midfielders and forwards. We succeeded in scoring an early goal, which has become a habit for us, and this forced the opponent to come out of their defensive shell, despite us missing several other opportunities.”

Benhachem continued, “We have a long journey ahead of us before Friday, so in the second half, we tried to manage the game’s minutes and conserve physical effort for the upcoming match. The third goal was particularly beautiful.”
