US Embassy in Dakar Denies Visas to Six Senegalese FA Members Ahead of World Cup
The United States Embassy in Dakar has denied entry visas to six members of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). The visa applications were part of preparatory missions ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to "Africa Top Sports," the denial is attributed to stringent visa procedures recently adopted by US authorities. These measures reflect an increasing tightening of entry criteria, particularly for official delegations involved in World Cup preparatory travel programs.
The source indicates that this tightening is linked to stricter immigration policies that came into effect at the beginning of 2026. This has subjected some applications to meticulous reviews concerning travel documents, the purpose of the visit, and administrative guarantees.
Journalist Micky Jnr reported that the list of members denied entry to the US includes several prominent officials. Among them are Amadou Kane, the fourth vice-president of the Senegalese Football Federation; Moussa Mbaye, president of Stade de Mbour club and a member of the finance committee; and Modou Fall, president of AS Pikine club.
Despite the Senegalese delegation holding official status and their travel being related to organizational tasks for the tournament, the failure to meet certain procedural requirements or security assessments of their applications may have contributed to the visa denials.
This development comes as FIFA emphasizes its commitment to facilitating the movement of delegations participating in the 2026 World Cup.
