Kenyan FA President Challenges Suspension Over Financial Corruption, Calls it "Illegal"
Hussein Mohammed, President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), has rejected his suspension by the National Executive Committee (NEC) over allegations of financial corruption, labeling the decision as "illegal."
Mohammed appeared at a press conference hours after his suspension was announced, stating that the NEC meeting was not convened in accordance with FKF regulations, rendering any decisions made during it null and void.
Mohammed cited Article 38 of the FKF statutes, emphasizing that only the federation president has the authority to call for NEC meetings, and no one else is legally empowered to do so.
The FKF Executive Committee had announced the suspension of Mohammed and other members due to accusations of financial corruption involving an amount estimated at 42 million Kenyan Shillings (approximately 350 million centimes), allocated for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
