Simeone to Continue Leading Atlético Madrid Until 2027 with Option for Additional Season
Atlético Madrid has reached an agreement with head coach Diego Simeone to extend his tenure at the helm of the team until the 2026-2027 season.
Spanish newspaper "AS" reported that the Argentine coach is currently focused on the present sporting challenges, including the eagerly anticipated clash against Barcelona, in addition to his pursuit of the Copa del Rey title. He recalls the historic victory in the 2013 edition against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, which marked a turning point in the club's history.
Both Boscero and Alemany are also working on shaping Atlético's squad for the 2026-2027 season under Simeone's leadership. The coach is closely monitoring the management's moves and plans to strengthen the team's ranks.
According to the same source, Simeone and the club's management have agreed to discuss the possibility of extending the contract for an additional season beyond 2027, although this matter will depend on future developments and does not require immediate action.
