Former Real Madrid Nutritionist Slams Medical Staff Over AI Supplement Prescriptions After Mbappé Incident
Former Real Madrid nutritionist Itziar González has revealed significant shortcomings within the club's medical staff, highlighting the misuse of artificial intelligence in certain nutrition and treatment decisions.
González sparked controversy with her comments on the glaring medical error related to French star Kylian Mbappé's injury. She openly mocked some of the staff's practices, particularly their use of modern technology, especially artificial intelligence.
In a striking remark, González ridiculed some staff members' unprofessional reliance on AI tools. She wrote on her Instagram story: "I don't know what's worse: this error, or that they prescribe nutritional supplements based on free results from ChatGPT," implying a misapplication of technology instead of precise scientific utilization.
She also expressed her dismay at the continued presence of certain individuals within the staff, suggesting that personal relationships played a role in their retention over competence and experience. She called for the necessity of employing qualified professionals capable of safeguarding players' health.
It is worth noting that González began working with Real Madrid during the 2021-2022 season before fully joining the first team in October 2024. However, she stated that she encountered an unwelcoming work environment and was ultimately dismissed in 2025, subsequently entering a legal dispute with the club.
