Mbappé Denies Real Madrid Medical Error Regarding His Injury: "That Information Is Not True"
A story that seemed incredible, even too far-fetched to believe, circulated since Tuesday evening, creating a wide echo in France and Spain. Several media outlets reported that during the initial diagnosis of Kylian Mbappé's injury, sustained on December 7 against Celta Vigo (2-0), Real Madrid's medical staff examined the wrong knee. Instead of checking the injured left knee, they reportedly performed an MRI on the right knee, finding no issues. This allegedly led Mbappé to continue playing with persistent pain whose source remained unknown.
Mbappé appeared on Wednesday at the press conference preceding the friendly match between France and Brazil, taking the opportunity to clarify the situation and put an end to the rumors.
Regarding the issue of the incorrect knee examination, the French player denied any medical error on Real Madrid's part, stating: "No, the information regarding the wrong knee is not true. Perhaps I am indirectly responsible for this situation, because when you don't communicate about what you have and what is happening, it leaves room for interpretations. This is the game, and I know what I'm getting into when I don't communicate."
He added: "We had very clear communication with Real Madrid, just as I did when I went to Paris and saw other doctors."
It is worth noting that the French national team will face Brazil tomorrow, Thursday (21:00 GMT+1), in a friendly match in the United States, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
