Mbappé Returns to Real Madrid Group Training Ahead of Manchester City Champions League Clash
Real Madrid's final training session before heading to Manchester brought positive news for coach Álvaro Arbeloa. French forward Kylian Mbappé's readiness to participate in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg, scheduled for Tuesday (20:00 GMT), has been confirmed. Meanwhile, both Asensio and Carreras will undergo crucial fitness tests at the Etihad Stadium.
Mbappé trained normally and fully with his teammates, showing no impediments to his participation. This makes his presence in the starting lineup against Manchester City highly anticipated, according to Spanish newspaper "AS".
Mbappé has not featured for the Royal Club since February 21, when Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Osasuna in Pamplona. Since then, the French forward has missed three La Liga matches against Getafe, Celta Vigo, and Elche, as well as two Champions League fixtures against Benfica and Manchester City, all due to a sprained left knee.
On another positive note, team player Carreras completed part of the group training, suggesting his potential inclusion in the traveling squad. The player will undergo an additional test during the training session to be held at the Etihad Stadium.
Conversely, Asensio continues to experience calf muscle pain, making his participation doubtful. Despite this, the player has not been completely ruled out, and a final decision regarding his travel will be made before the delegation departs. The remaining injured players continued their rehabilitation programs, while those who started in the Elche match underwent a recovery training session.
