France U21 Coach Hopes Bouadi Chooses France: "He Will Listen to His Heart"
Gerald Baticle, the coach of the France U21 national team, has addressed the situation surrounding Moroccan-origin player Ayoub Bouadi, amidst ongoing speculation about his international future and the possibility of him choosing to represent either France or Morocco.
During a press conference held on Tuesday, Baticle confirmed that communication with the player is continuous. He noted that the technical staff is working to persuade Bouadi to wear the French jersey, emphasizing that no pressure is being applied. "Ayoub Bouadi is a player who has been with us a lot," Baticle stated. "We communicate with him directly, and there is no manipulation or flattery."
The French coach added that the player's decision will remain primarily personal. "For Ayoub, even if things are going well, he will listen to his heart," Baticle explained. "I sincerely hope he chooses to represent France, because I admire his potential and want to see him wear the blue jersey and contribute to leading France to titles in the future."
Baticle further stressed that the player is still in the decision-making phase. "If he chooses another jersey, that's his decision," he said. "I hope I have the arguments and strength to convince him, and I will do my best to achieve that, but the final decision rests with him, as it does for others."
He continued, "We talk and exchange views, but the final decision rests with him. He has to discuss it with his family; he is a balanced young man who thinks deeply. He will choose at the time he deems appropriate."
The France U21 coach concluded his remarks by reiterating his desire for the player to remain within the ranks of "Les Bleus." "I hope his choice will be in France's favor, but it's just a personal hope," Baticle affirmed. "If he is convinced of it from his heart, he will be stronger wearing this jersey."
