Bouaddi on Rejecting PSG: "I Looked for the Most Suitable Project and Chose Lille"
Moroccan-origin player Ayyoub Bouaddi has revisited his decisive 2021 decision to join Lille OSC, despite significant interest from Paris Saint-Germain at the time. Three years on, he remains fully convinced that his choice was the most suitable for his professional career path.
Speaking to French newspaper L'Équipe, Bouaddi explained his commitment to Lille: "I chose Lille because its project was the most suitable for me. At 14 years old, my goal wasn't to chase the spotlight and fame; I was looking for a place that would help me develop, and I found that here." He added, "Here at Lille, we know there's a good coaching staff, and they work excellently. A large number of players have passed through here, and for me, I chose the best project."
The player also noted that family considerations played a significant role in his decision, especially as he left his family home at a young age. He stated, "Proximity to Creil was very important for my family. My family holds a significant place; they represent the person I've become, and they define my identity. My parents instilled my values and principles in me."
Bouaddi is considered one of the most prominent rising talents in French football and is closely watched by Moroccan national team fans who hope to see him join the "Atlas Lions" in the near future.
It is worth noting that Ayyoub Bouaddi recently renewed his contract with French club Lille until 2029.
