Isabel Díaz Ayuso: "The Stadium Will Remain in Place and We Will Renovate It to Ensure Maximum Safety"
The regional government of Madrid has announced that Rayo Vallecano's Vallecas stadium will remain at its current location, with plans for renovation aimed at improving safety and increasing its capacity. This decision directly contradicts reports that suggested club owner Raúl Martín Presa wished to relocate the stadium.
Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the regional government of Madrid, confirmed this decision, noting the plan's support from Mariano de Paco, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Ayuso stated, "The stadium will remain in place; what we will do is renovate it to ensure maximum safety, expand its capacity, and allow its use for a wide range of other events. This is good for the region, and it is a decision we have made because we believe it is the most appropriate."
In contrast, reports indicated that Raúl Martín Presa, owner of Rayo Vallecano, does not plan to sell the club despite widespread fan dissatisfaction and his rejection of significant offers. These offers included €150 million from the Catalan investment fund "Strategic Value Partners," as reported by Diario AS.
In the same vein, architectural firm "AGAS" concluded that renovating the Vallecas stadium at its current location is both feasible and realistic. Diario AS reported that the stadium's renovation could cost between €40 and €50 million and take approximately a year and a half, with the potential to add around 10,000 seats, bringing the total capacity to 25,000 spectators.
