Güler Denies Bullying Claims from Real Madrid Teammates, Contrary to Discoverer's Statement
Turkish player Arda Güler has refuted claims made by Serhat Pekmezci, the former head of scouting at Fenerbahçe, regarding alleged bullying by some of his teammates at Real Madrid.
In an official statement, Güler expressed his regret, saying: "I saw with sadness the recent public statements made by the former head of the scouting department, Serhat Pekmezci, who played an important role at the beginning of my career. From day one, everyone at this club has welcomed me with great warmth, and I have always considered this place my family."
Güler also spoke of his pride in belonging to the Royal Club, adding: "I am extremely proud to be a Real Madrid player, and I hope to defend this badge for many years to come."
The Turkish international emphasized the team's strength and the unity among his teammates, stating: "We have a very strong team, and I feel happy and honored to share the dressing room with all my teammates. I kindly ask that no attention be paid to any comments or reports written or expressed regarding this matter."
Pekmezci, who was responsible for bringing Güler to Fenerbahçe and is considered his former discoverer, had made serious accusations during an interview with the "Sports Digital" channel in Turkey, asserting that the player was being bullied by his Real Madrid teammates.
Pekmezci claimed: "The bullying comes from the players; there is a group that could not accept Arda, and unfortunately, they are players with high egos. Real Madrid is a giant club, but Güler is suffering from bullying. He did not complain to me, but I knew this would happen, and I advised him to be patient."
