Tebas Slams Pérez After Super League End: "Now He Will Justify His Surrender as a Strategic Victory"
Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, launched a fierce attack on Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, following the latter's announcement of a "peace agreement" with UEFA, effectively ending the Super League project.
Tebas criticized Real Madrid's statement, arguing that Pérez had retracted his words from less than 90 days prior, when he had considered reaching an agreement with UEFA to be a surrender. Today, the club announced its agreement with European football's governing body.
Writing on his "X" account, Tebas stated: "Less than 90 days ago, Florentino Pérez considered reaching an agreement with UEFA nothing less than a surrender. Now the usual phase begins: crafting a new narrative through 'mouthpieces' so that the retreat appears to be a strategic victory."
He added: "The problem is not changing your position, but denying that you changed it. When a person has true leadership, they don't need to rewrite what they said 90 days ago. A competition where one competes against oneself was impossible," referring to Real Madrid being the last club to support the Super League project.
