New CAF Crisis: Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda Unpreparedness Threatens AFCON 2027 Postponement!
Concerns are mounting over the potential postponement of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to be held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Organizational and infrastructure issues could prevent the upcoming edition from being hosted on its official date, a situation reported by the British newspaper "The Guardian." "Al-Batoula" had previously revealed in an article titled "CAF in Trouble Over 'AFCON 2028' and Postponement is Likely for These Reasons!" that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) faces real difficulties in ensuring the 2028 edition takes place.
These fears are exacerbated by international reports suggesting that the CAF Executive Committee may discuss a proposal to postpone the 2027 finals to 2028 during an upcoming meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, due to these challenges. This creates a scenario where the edition previously scheduled for 2028 might be cancelled in favour of reorganizing the tournament agenda.
This situation arises after CAF's decision to hold the Africa Cup of Nations every four years. Given the unreadiness of Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya to host the 2027 edition on schedule, the possibility of also postponing the 2028 edition remains, which places African football's governing body "in a predicament."
It is worth noting that the CAF Executive Committee will meet this coming Friday in Tanzania to make a series of crucial decisions.
