Kenyan club Nairobi United issued an official statement following their one-goal defeat to Wydad AC in their CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage match, expressing great appreciation for the Moroccan team.
The Kenyan club affirmed in its statement that hosting Wydad AC in Nairobi was a great honor, considering them one of African football's giants. They emphasized that the atmosphere surrounding the encounter reflected the spirit of mutual respect and sporting values the club champions.
Nairobi United stated in its communiqué: "We appreciate the kind words from Wydad AC. It was a great honor for us to host one of African football's giants in Nairobi, where the mutual respect between both parties embodied the values we believe in as a club."
The Kenyan club added: "We extend our gratitude to our fans for their continuous support, and we wish Wydad AC continued success in their continental journey."
Wydad currently leads Group B with 12 points, followed by Maniema of Congo in second place with 9 points, then Nigerian club Azam United with the same tally. Kenyan side Nairobi United sits at the bottom of the group with no points.
Wydad will host Azam United in the final matchday at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca next Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 PM (GMT+1).
