Achraf Hakimi, a player for the Moroccan national team, expressed his deep pain after failing to win the Africa Cup of Nations title, affirming that Morocco will continue to advance with its head held high.
Hakimi wrote in a post on his official accounts: "After very difficult days, and as I try to comprehend everything that happened, I felt the need to express what is in my heart. First, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to His Majesty, for the tremendous work accomplished to ensure that this edition of the Africa Cup, without a doubt, was the best in its history, and that it was hosted in our country. Thank you for the vision, support, and enduring love for football and for Morocco.
He continued: "I also thank our president, Fouzi Lekjaa, for his full commitment to this national team, and for his trust in us at every stage of the journey. And how can I not thank the Moroccan people? Thank you for being with us in every match, every minute, and every emotion. You were the 12th player, and our strength when our legs grew heavy and our hearts ached. We felt your support in Morocco and in all corners of the world."
He added: "From the bottom of my heart, I thank Walid Regragui, his entire staff, and above all, my teammates, for the work, commitment, and great sacrifices we made together during this Cup. Thirty-five days of living together, continuous effort, discipline, and unity. A group that proved to the world that Morocco does not just compete, but inspires."
