Bounou: 'The Goalkeeper's Role is Like a Guard; Sometimes the Team Depends on You'
Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou expressed his happiness at contributing to the Moroccan national team's qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations final, following their victory over Nigeria on penalties. He affirmed that the most important thing was achieving the goal everyone aspired to.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Bounou said: "In football, we are just watchmen; we do our job. Sometimes you might not touch the ball, and sometimes the team might depend on you. This is the role of a goalkeeper."
He continued: "Today, the team needed me, so thankfully things worked out. This is football; sometimes things go as we wish, and sometimes they don't. So, thankfully, we won today, which allows us to play in the final that everyone dreams of."
The Africa Cup of Nations final, between Morocco and Senegal, will take place next Sunday, starting at 8:00 PM (20:00 GMT+1), at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
