Bounou: 'We Must Feel Responsibility More Than Pressure,' Delighted to Host AFCON at Home
Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan national team goalkeeper, affirmed that the "Atlas Lions" are ready to compete in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, noting that the squad is well aware of the responsibility placed upon them.
Speaking to the official website of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Bounou stated: "We met yesterday, and thankfully all the players are in good health. We are all very happy to be part of this competition, which will be held on Moroccan soil."
He added: "All players must feel responsibility more than pressure. We embrace this responsibility to represent our country and play in front of our fans. Therefore, every step we take is a gain for us."
Bounou also touched upon the special feeling of playing on home soil, saying: "When we were young, we used to watch Africa Cup of Nations or World Cup matches, and now we find ourselves playing them in our own country. This makes us feel a great sense of responsibility and immense joy at the same time."
The Moroccan goalkeeper highlighted the positive role of coach Walid Regragui in boosting player confidence, explaining: "Naturally, the coach gives us great confidence to experience the atmosphere of this competition and deliver our usual performance."
He concluded: "I would like to thank the great fans who support the national team, both inside and outside Morocco. We are waiting for you and feel a tremendous responsibility to deliver what you expect, God willing."
