Broos: 'Criticism? I Don't Read What's Written on Social Media Because It's Just Garbage to Me'
Hugo Broos has returned to South Africa after leading the Bafana Bafana to elimination from the Round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025". He stated that now is not the appropriate time to delve into the details of what transpired during the continental tournament, given the prevailing sense of disappointment.
In statements made upon his return to South Africa, Broos explained that his current focus is on rectifying mistakes in preparation for upcoming challenges. He said: "My task now is to analyze what happened, to identify what we did poorly and what we did well, and to try to fix the errors so that we can return stronger, in preparation for the World Cup in six months."
The South Africa national team coach added: "Currently, it's not the right time to analyze what happened in the Africa Cup of Nations, because everyone is disappointed. Perhaps I will do that next week when things calm down."
Regarding the criticism directed at him on social media following the team's exit from the tournament, the South Africa coach stressed that he pays no attention to it. "Firstly, I don't want to comment on these matters, and secondly, I don't read what is published on social media, because what is there, for me, is just garbage," he stated. "I have been in charge of the national team for four years and I have never once read what is written."
South Africa was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations after a 2-1 defeat against Cameroon in the Round of 16.
