
El Khannouss: 'Morocco Above All Else, We Must Defeat Everyone to Go All the Way'
Moroccan national team player Bilal El Khannouss confirmed that his teammate Azzedine Ounahi sustained an injury yesterday, Saturday. El Khannouss added that he is committed to giving his all for the national squad in the Africa Cup of Nations, whether playing as a substitute or a starter.
Speaking in a televised statement after qualifying for the AFCON quarter-finals, following a 1-0 victory over Tanzania, El Khannouss stated: "Ounahi suffered an injury yesterday. As I said before the tournament, Morocco is above all else. The nation comes before everyone, and we must be happy to be here at the Africa Cup of Nations."
He continued: "Whether I am in the stands, on the substitutes' bench, or starting, I will always be present. We are taking things one match at a time and making progress. We must defeat everyone if we want to go all the way."
The Moroccan national team is set to face the winner of the match between South Africa and Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals. That match is currently being held at Al-Madina Stadium in Rabat.
