Nigeria Coach Chelle 'Very Happy' to Stay in Fez After AFCON Group Stage Success

Eric Chelle, head coach of the Nigerian national team, expressed his delight at remaining in Fez after their 3-1 victory over Uganda. The win saw them complete the Africa Cup of Nations group stage with a perfect record, securing nine points.

Speaking to the official CAF website, Chelle stated, “The performance and result were very good. I feel a bit tired due to this effort, but it's an ideal scenario to move forward.”

He added, “I am very happy to be here and to stay in this place, because Fez is a good and quiet city, and the people are very kind to us. Today was a match to make changes and try different things, and I liked what I saw even though we still need to improve.”

Chelle concluded, “We are focused. We have achieved our first goal, and we can conduct many training sessions before the next stage, so I am happy to stay here. If we want to be ambitious, we must continue to improve.”
