Nigeria national team coach, Eric Shell, praised Rabat's Moulay Hassan Stadium, which hosted his team's match against DR Congo in the final of the African play-off for a spot in the global play-off for the 2026 World Cup.

In post-match press statements, Shell said: "I was a little surprised because, in the end, we played away from home. There were more Congolese fans than Nigerian supporters, and Moulay Hassan Stadium was in favour of Congo."

He added: "As for the infrastructure here in Morocco, it is exceptional. The stadium is great. I believe the atmosphere will be very beautiful during the Africa Cup of Nations."

The Nigerian national team's dream of participating in the 2026 World Cup evaporated after their loss to DR Congo in a penalty shootout (4-3), following a 1-1 draw after regular and extra time.
