Amrabat Explains Zambia Absence, Aims for Tanzania Return
Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat has clarified the reason for his absence from the Zambia match, which saw the Atlas Lions secure a comfortable 3-0 victory. He indicated that he aims to be ready to feature against Tanzania in the Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 next Sunday (17:00 GMT+1).
Amrabat stated in press remarks: “The most important thing is the win. I think we played well. Thank God, we qualified for the next round, and that’s the most important thing for me. We completed the task.”
Regarding his non-participation in the recent encounter, he added: “I was out for a long time, five weeks without playing, then I played two matches before this one. So, I thought it was good to take things calmly.”
He concluded: “Thank God, I’m improving day by day. I’m working hard to be 100% ready, and usually when you play a match, some complications arise: the ankle swells a bit and becomes stiff, which is why I didn’t play against Zambia. I have until Sunday to take an extra step and become more ready and physically better.”
