Said Ali Said Othman, President of the Comoros Football Federation, affirmed that the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against the Moroccan national team represents a "real challenge" for the Comoros national team, while emphasizing his team's readiness to take on this significant test.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP), Othman explained: "This edition of the Africa Cup of Nations holds a special significance for us because Comoros will play the opening match against Morocco, the host nation." He added that "facing the continent's top-ranked team is a real challenge, but the Comorian national team is fully prepared to meet it."

He further stated: "We realize that playing on home soil gives Morocco, the clear favorite to win the title, an advantage. However, the task remains for the Comoros national team to defy expectations."

In the same context, the Comoros FA President praised Morocco's significant investments in the sports sector, whether in infrastructure, training, or organizing major football events. He expressed his delight at the presence of Comorian fans in Morocco to support their national team, considering it a "source of great pride."

Othman also affirmed the strong relations between the two countries, describing Morocco as a "brotherly nation" that shares common values and distinct ties with Comoros. He recalled the continuous support and assistance the Kingdom has provided to Comoros in various fields.

The Comoros FA President concluded his remarks by emphasizing his national team's ambition to replicate their achievement from the 2021 edition in Cameroon, or to achieve an even better result in this, their second appearance in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.

It is worth noting that the Comoros national team is in Group A alongside Morocco, Mali, and Zambia for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
