Regragui: 'When I Was With Wydad, Players Couldn't Hear My Instructions Over the Crowd's Roar, and That's Exactly What We Want at AFCON'
Walid Regragui, head coach of the Moroccan national team, emphasized that the national squad needs a crowd that cheers for the entire ninety minutes, without being preoccupied with taking photos, selfies, or seeking privileges. He noted that this kind of support creates positive pressure on the players.
Speaking at the press conference ahead of the Comoros match, Regragui highlighted that his experience with Wydad AC demonstrated the powerful impact of fans. He recalled that continuous cheering sometimes prevented him from conveying instructions loudly to his players during matches.
He explained that the situation with the national team in recent matches has been different, with communication to players becoming easier and clearer during games, which has facilitated the transmission of instructions. This implies that the current crowd noise isn't impactful enough.
Regragui concluded that the anticipated fan presence at this tournament is considered a crucial element for supporting the players and boosting their morale on the pitch.
