The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has notified European clubs that they must release their African players called up for the Africa Cup of Nations by December 8.

This decision aligns with FIFA's official approval to ensure player participation in the tournament in accordance with international regulations. It also aims to provide national teams with sufficient time for preparation and readiness before the competition kicks off, scheduled to take place in Morocco between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.

The directive applies to all players registered with clubs, regardless of whether they participate in domestic or European leagues. Adherence to this deadline is mandatory and cannot be extended.

This measure is part of a series of regulations announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the local organizing committee for the tournament. These regulations also include a maximum squad size of 28 players per national team and stipulate that teams must arrive in Morocco five days before the opening ceremony to ensure full and smooth preparation for the competition.

The organizing bodies emphasized that adhering to this deadline is crucial to avoid any delays in preparations and to create optimal conditions for the national teams before the start of the competitions.
