Zabiri: "I'm Ready for Senior National Team; Regragui Told Us to Keep Working with Our Clubs as a Call-Up Could Come Anytime"
Yassir Zabiri, a player for the Moroccan U20 national team, has affirmed his readiness to join the ranks of the "Atlas Lions," noting that the decision rests with national coach Walid Regragui.
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper "AS," Zabiri spoke about the possibility of joining the senior Moroccan national team following his strong performances at the U20 World Cup. He stated: "Honestly, I feel ready now, but call-ups don't depend on me; they depend on coach Regragui, and the final decision is his."
He added: "It's true that Regragui spoke with us after the World Cup and told us to return to our clubs, continue playing as starters, and that at any moment, he could call us up. I am working towards that. My goal is to play with my team. In the last match, I started against Porto, and I hope it continues that way."
Zabiri continued: "I want to score goals and show my abilities to Walid. Ultimately, doing well in the U20 World Cup does not necessarily guarantee the required level for the senior national team."
Regarding his dream of playing in the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup with the senior Moroccan national team, Zabiri clarified: "Is there anyone who doesn't dream of playing the Africa Cup of Nations in their own country? It's something very big, and we want to win the title. That is the main goal."
He concluded: "Whether I am there or not, the important thing is that Morocco wins the cup. This depends on Walid. I will do my best to be part of the senior team and make the fans happy. If I am not there, I will support the team and wish them the best."
