Benij on Bubista's Best Coach Award: 'World Cup Title is Football's Biggest Prize, Wahbi Deserved It'
Aziz Benij, a sports analyst for beIN Sports channels, expressed his surprise that Moroccan coach Mohamed Wahbi was not awarded the Best Coach in Africa prize at the CAF Awards ceremony, especially after leading the Moroccan U20 national team to a World Cup title.
In media statements, Benij said, "The biggest and most important prize in football is winning the World Cup. Wahbi and the Moroccan national team achieved this historic feat, and therefore, he deserved to win both the Best Coach and Best National Team awards."
He added, "For me, Wahbi is the best African coach this season because he won the World Cup. Even CAF President Patrice Motsepe thanked the Moroccan youth national team, and when you thank a team, you are practically thanking the coach."
Benij sent a clear message, stating that Cape Verde coach Bubista's award for Best Coach does not reflect the magnitude of the work done by Wahbi. He emphasized, "What Morocco achieved in the youth category is the greatest possible accomplishment, and it should have been recognized on the awards podium."
