Motsepe to Hakimi: 'Be Ready for Next World Cup; An African Nation Will Win It'
Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), affirmed that an African country will one day be crowned World Cup champions. He also indicated his need for Achraf Hakimi's participation in the upcoming World Cup to make the continent proud.
Speaking at the CAF Awards ceremony, Motsepe said, "I congratulate the Moroccan U20 national team on winning the World Cup. The future of African football looks bright and beautiful."
He continued, "We will show the rest of the world that African football is among the best globally. We will go to the United States of America, and we know that one of the 10 teams will make us proud. And I need your foot (Achraf Hakimi) to be ready to make us proud."
He added, "We need one of the African teams. We reached the semi-finals, and this time, in 2026, we will go further and achieve more. One day, an African country will be crowned World Cup champions, and we will be world champions."
