Hakimi Aims for African Player of the Year, Hopes for AFCON Return Soon

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain player, expressed his strong desire to win the African Player of the Year award, indicating that he is working hard to return to the field soon to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Speaking to the official website of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on the sidelines of his attendance at the CAF Awards ceremony, Hakimi said: "I am very happy to be here in my country, among my people, and at such a prestigious event. I am truly enjoying this evening."

He added: "It is a pleasure to be back here; it's proof that I am performing well and working hard. I hope to continue coming here many times. It's a moment to enjoy, and I hope to win this year."

Regarding the Moroccan national team's participation in AFCON, Hakimi explained: "Yes, I believe we are working very well. We are in good shape and have positive energy. Our recent results have been excellent, and we feel confident that we can achieve something special this year, especially since the tournament will be held in our country, which makes it even more special."

Regarding his recovery from injury, the Paris Saint-Germain player noted that it "is going well. I am working hard to return soon, and I hope to be ready in the near future and participate in the Africa Cup of Nations."
