PSV Coach Concerned Over Saibari and Salah-Eddine's AFCON Absence: 'It's Really Strange'

Peter Bosz, coach of Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, has expressed concern regarding the timing of his African international players joining their national teams for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament, hosted by Morocco, is scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, and will see Moroccan players Ismael Saibari and Anass Salah-Eddine potentially depart for national duty.

Bosz highlighted that the exact timing of players' departure would significantly impact the number of matches they would miss. Speaking to Dutch media, he stated: "It's really strange. Do we allow them to join their national teams a week before the start of the tournament or two weeks? There is a big difference."

Bosz added that "with two matches a week, a player can easily miss four games instead of two," underscoring the potential impact on the club's fixture schedule.

The Moroccan duo, Ismael Saibari and Anass Salah-Eddine, along with Burkinabe international Adamou Nagalo, could miss up to seven matches for PSV across the KNVB Cup, Eredivisie, and UEFA Champions League competitions, raising significant concerns for the club regarding the impact of these absences.
