Congolese FA President: "Football is Secondary, Just a Game Like Checkers!"
Don Guy Blaise Mayolas, President of the Congolese Football Federation, has defended the national team's "negative" results, asserting that football is merely a game, akin to checkers.
The Congolese national team has suffered seven defeats in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with only one draw and no victories. They have conceded 24 goals and also failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Mayolas stated in media remarks: "Football is a secondary matter. In the end, it's just a game, and we shouldn't be obsessed with it. It's like a game of checkers… you can't be passionate about it."
It is worth noting that the Congolese national team has secured only two victories in their last 19 matches, alongside 13 defeats and four draws.
