Manuel Neuer, the German goalkeeper for Bayern Munich, commented on his teammate Luis Diaz's tackle on Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, a Paris Saint-Germain player, noting that he was told the tackle was not violent.

Neuer stated in a media interview regarding the conversation he had with the referee: "I think it was somewhat pointless because he only informed me of the decision. If he wanted to send the player off, he should do it immediately, and there's no need to call me out of my goal to tell me the decision."

He added: "We have a captain on the field who can communicate with him. I saw the situation from afar, so I don't want to judge it completely. I was told it wasn't a very violent tackle, but it was considered a foul worthy of a red card. I don't know if the decision was exaggerated or not, and that's something that needs to be evaluated later."

Hakimi had suffered a severe sprain in his left ankle and will be sidelined for several weeks, with doubts surrounding his recovery before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place between December 21 and January 18, 2026.
