Upamecano Comments on His Actions After Hakimi's Injury: "Don't Look for Controversy Where There Isn't Any... I Wish You a Speedy Recovery!"
Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano found himself embroiled in controversy following his actions during his team's Champions League fourth-round match against Paris Saint-Germain, after Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi sustained a "severe" injury.
Upamecano addressed the situation by posting a message on his official Instagram story, stating: "Don't look for controversy where there isn't any. Sorry for your injury. I wish you a speedy recovery."
Upamecano's post comes in the wake of widespread criticism directed at him after a moment captured on camera showed him laughing and mimicking crying with his hands. This occurred after his teammate, Luis Diaz, was shown a red card for a strong tackle on Hakimi, who subsequently left the match in tears. Hakimi's injury was later confirmed as a severe sprain in his left ankle.
